Processing Aid Masterbatch consist of a concentrated blend of pigments and/or encapsulated additives manufactured through a process of heating a carrier resin, then cooled and cut into a granular form. Thus, the masterbatch allows the transformer to color the natural polymer economically in the plastics processing process.
We have Process Aide, color, black, combi or additive masterbatches (with solid or liquid carriers), which aim at coloring or giving other properties to the plastics – color or additive masterbatch.
Eliminates additive or colorant agglomeration problems, as well as dispersion problems.
Contains no solvents and thus has a longer shelf life.
It contains, on average, 40-65% additive, however, the range can reach values between 15-80% in extreme cases.
A 25 kg bag processes up to one ton of raw material. Thus, the relatively dilute nature of materbatches allows for greater accuracy in dosing small quantities.
The carrier of the masterbatch must be polymer identical/compatible. For example, EVA or LDPE is a carrier compatible with polyolefins and nylon, just as polystyrene is used as a carrier for ABS, SAN and sometimes polycarbonates.
In this sense, when the carrier of the masterbatch is incompatible with the raw material, changes in the properties of the transformed material may occur. The converter must specify the characteristics of the raw material. The percentage of use of masterbatches in relation to the raw material is between 1 to 5 %. Color masterbatches and additive(s) may be combined.
Sometimes, adverse effects o occur such as separation of the master batch from the raw material in the machine hopper.
The masterbatch, solid or liquid, is added directly to the machine spindle by a peristaltic pump,
The use of liquid masterbatches also enables highly precise dosing and fast color changes between productions.
Masterbatches are compatible with most processes, with the exception of rotational molding, plastisol and other liquid resin systems.
Processing Aid Masterbatches contain fluoropolymer-based Polymer Processing Additives. Because of the incompatibility of the fluoropolymers with the plastics and the high affinity for the metal, a thin coating is formed in the extruder die. The friction between the molten plastic and the metal die-wall reduces, resulting in a reduced stress on the plastic. This eliminates the melt fracture during the extrusion of (m)LLDPE rich blends at high shear rates (output rates). The head pressure reduces, production can be optimized, films have a higher gloss.
The addition Processing Aid Masterbatches products used in PE, PP, PS, … will minimize any die lip build-up. Less stops will be required for cleaning of the die lips, resulting in a higher productivity, thus reduced cost.
The coating prevents the plastic to remain
ADPLAST® provides a wide range of Masterbatches with a concentration of up to 80% titanium dioxide based on PE, PP, PS, PA, ABS and Polyester.
The range of ADPLAST® Masterbatches has applicability in: labels, lamination, protective films, coating, agriculture, thin-wall packaging, fibers and nonwovens, bottles, injection-molded articles, etc.
Indeed, we have tailor-made solutions capable of achieving excellent quality-performance ratios.
