Toner Range

Toner Range Products for PVC consist of a concentrated mixture of pigments and/or encapsulated additives manufactured by heating a carrier resin, which is then cooled and cut into granules. The masterbatch thus allows the processor to color the natural polymer economically in the plastics processing process.

We have colored, black, combi or additive PVC masterbatches (with solid or liquid carriers), which aim to color or give other properties to plastics – colored or additive masterbatches.

Technical Advantages | Lifespan

Prevents problems of agglomeration of additives or colorants as well as dispersion problems.
It does not contain solvents and therefore has a longer shelf life.
Contains an average of 40-65% additive, but the range can reach 15-80% in extreme cases.
A 25 kg bag processes up to one ton of raw material. Thus, the relatively dilute nature of the materbatches allows for greater precision when dosing small quantities.

Carrier and Dosages

The masterbatch carrier must be identical/compatible with the polymer. For example, EVA or LDPE is a carrier compatible with polyolefins and nylon, just as polystyrene is used as a carrier for ABS, SAN and sometimes polycarbonates.

In this sense, when the masterbatch carrier is incompatible with the raw material, changes may occur in the properties of the processed material. The processor must specify the characteristics of the raw material. The percentage of use of masterbatches in relation to the raw material is between 1 and 5%. Masterbatches, color and additive(s) or combined.

Adverse effects

Adverse effects sometimes occur, such as the masterbatch separating from the raw material in the machine hopper.
The liquid masterbatch is added directly to the machine spindle using a peristaltic pump,
The use of liquid masterbatches also makes it possible to obtain highly precise dosages and rapid color changes between production runs.

Transformation processes

Masterbatches are compatible with most processes, with the exception of rotational molding, plastisol and other liquid resin systems.

Toner Range

These products are mainly used for color control (adjustment of existing colors) in virgin and regrind applications. We have available toners in all product formats.

Astrobatch and Astromicro (pellet) toners are dosed into virgin and regrind PVC to:

1. Maintain color tolerances and shift color requirements online.

2. Mask the natural degradation of PVC, boosting colour stability and performance.

Astroblend (powder) masterbatch is added to the PVC dry blend, either directly to the mixer or via the stabiliser one pack. Post production and post consumer PVC dosed with toners can assist producers to achieve their environmental recycling commitment to sustainability.
